He said the digital consultation services would be provided via WhatsApp as there would be no requirement to download any special application on the smartphone to keep the process simple for every user.

He said the doctor would contact the patient within five minutes for teleconsultation after the basic information about the disease and patient was provided via WhatsApp.

Siddiqui told the audience that his startup aimed to connect all the government-run hospitals in Karachi to the new service for collecting data about patients.

Karachi’s Administrator, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, said the joint venture was a major step to improve the healthcare services of the hospitals of the KMC.

He said the initiative would help the patients to get a free consultation and clinical testing services at their doorstep without leaving their homes.

He told the audience that an important feature of the new initiative was that it would collect data about the prevalence of different infectious diseases in a certain area of Karachi as that would be very helpful for the concerned authorities to devise policies for public health care.

Singer and social worker, Shehzad Roy, said the new initiative had been launched under the public-private partnership that was very close to his heart for the provision of quality services to the masses in the health and education sectors.
